CCI has thoughtfully updated us on the state of pre-registration, via their Toucan blog. Here are the facts and a bit of conjecture.
Facts:
- Pre-registration will NOT be happening in November.
- This is because EPIC is "fine tuning the process and needs a little more time to make sure everything is in order."
- We will all be notified at least 48 hours in advance of the pre-registration date.
Conjecture:
The original pre-registration timeframe was for November-December; therefore, the logical mind would assume pre-reg will be taking place in December. But this is Comic-Con registration and "fine tuning the process and needs a little more time to make sure everything is in order" sounds like code for "the system is effed up even worse than usual, possibly due to our weird new badge codes that we created and then volunteered to implement for you, and we have no idea when it will all be fixed."
So for now, be cautiously optimistic that pre-reg will probably take place in December - but don't be too surprised if it doesn't.
Thanks. These actions are why I don't visit SDCC more than once every few years. The show is way too commercialized. Much prefer the smaller local cons.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of people feel that way these days.
