How did this fly under my all-seeing radar? Hot Topic is sponsoring "The Big Bang Ultimate Fan Giveaway Sweepstakes" and it ends 11:59 pm on 2 June.
The prizes:
For one lucky winner and friend: a 2-night trip to the Con. Yes, just two nights. In what's apparently a new tradition of vastly overvaluing the cost of Comic Con, it's assessed as a $3K prize.
For 47 non-winners:. A $500 Hot Topic gift card and a limited edition Big Bang Comic Con t-shirt. Are there really 47 people who want to spend $500 at Hot Topic?
Supposedly the point of this contest was to make you watch The Big Bang Theory on certain dates and answer a question about t-shirts - but you can still enter in these 2 ways:
- go to hottopic.com and join HT+1 as a member, or sign in if you're already a member and buy a "qualifying t-shirt."
- visit any Hot Topic store and purchase a "qualifying t-shirt" and use your HT+1 membership for 1 entry.
There's more details on what kind of shirts qualify, but you can read it for yourself. I hate complicated contests, but maybe the very intricacy here guarantees that few people will enter. Not everyone wants to buy a t-shirt just to enter a Comic Con contest. But if you do, act this weekend.
